Dental disease is one of the most common medical issues affecting pet rabbits. 🐇🦷 Unlike our teeth, a rabbit’s teeth continuously grow throughout its life. This can lead to overgrown teeth if the teeth are not worn down properly. The underlying cause of overgrown teeth can vary - it may be due to poor diet, trauma, or even poor genetics, which is the cause of this 1 year old rabbit, who had mal-aligned teeth from the start. Not all dental disease is this obvious- sometimes the front teeth are ok, but the back, or cheek teeth, are overgrown.
