Here’s more from my wedding budget series! As always, here are tiny ways to make a big impact on your wedding budget. Let’s talk - how to prep for your bar services! This is an area of your wedding day where, if you have the flexibility to do so, you can really save! Knowing how your wedding’s date, season, location, and your guests will help here. Standard bar time is 4-6 hours depending on your area. Here in Colorado I see shorter and stricter bar times since we’re at elevation and things can get… messy. Ask your potential bar vendors if they charge based on total headcount or if you’re able to split headcount into drinkers and non-drinkers. This could potentially save you quite a bit if you have a lot of underage guests or guests that don’t drink alcohol. Also ask your bar vendor if they provide all mixers, chasers, and garnishes as these costs can add up and become logistically tricky. If you’re in charge of providing all items for your bar, keep it simple! 3-5 options for beers, 2-3 wines, 3-5 liquors, 1 champagne, 3 chasers/mixers, and lemons and limes. Bar service can quickly become very tricky to keep track of who is in charge of what, delivery, menu, pick up or clean up, hours of service, how to estimate quantities, etc so I’d always recommend consulting a pro to help!
