In most American sports, when there is an injury, play is stopped immediately. An example would be American football, basketball or baseball. Play is started and stopped every few seconds. In soccer, the game is much more free, flowing, and goals are hard to come by. We do not start a promising attack unless we have a head injury or we believe a serious injury has occurred. The younger the age group, the quicker we should blow the whistle. As we move to higher levels and ages, the more patient we need to be. Once every couple of weeks, I will have a coach. Tell me that a throw should be a legal since a player. “stepped on the field” during the Throwin. They may very well have been on the field, but as long as part of the foot is on the touch line, it is a perfectly legal throw.
