Today is Nyepi Day in Bali. 🇮🇩 Nyepi means “to keep silent” and it comes the day after the Ogoh ogoh ceremony and Melasti before that. According to the legend the evil spirits were driven away through the ogoh ogoh the night before and on the day of Nyepi, the island would look desserted to the evil demons so they would think it’s empty and uninhabited and leave the island. I have never in my life woken up to not hearing motorbikes or horns in South East Asia, and it is SO cool to have been a part of this local ceremony.
