Guess What!? Your Dream Home doesn’t have to be your first purchase! I bought my first home back in 2013, at $165,000! I was a newbie Engineer and just getting into learning home improvement. I really didn’t have a clue about building equity and house appreciation, but during those next 5 years, I started learning carpentry and slowly begin making upgrades to my first home, until I started outgrowing the house and decided to upgrade to my dream home. I was able to use the equity of around $27,000 from that house to pay for the downpayment on my dream home! Now, I have since moved into the Lake House (which some of you may be wondering why) but this was also an investment move! After living in my dream home a year and 8 months, I was able to sell my dream home for $655,000 and profit $124,000, which led me to the lake house. I purchased the lake house for $645,000 but the only caveat is; THAT THING WAS UGGGLLLY!!! It had to be updated! But it came with a pool, an additional 2 acres of land and a 3,000 sq ft. shop, so I knew with a little sacrifice, I could turn it into my NEW dream home! Not only will I have a beautifully remodeled home in the end worth way more than what I purchased it for; but I’ve been able to also create a very lucrative income to help me fund my lifestyle as a content creator using this lake house as my canvas. So to make a long story short; you have to start somewhere. Your first home may not look like your Pinterest board, and you may have to put in a little extra work, but it’s a starting point for where you could be.
