While I don't regret buying my home because it's a blessing and I love it so much, this is the part they don't tell you. This is the part that catches every new-build homeowner by surprise. The escrow analysis after year 1 is some crazy shit. For anyone who doesn't understand it, basically your taxes were assessed on just the land and not the house, so you didn't pay enough taxes last year. Be sure to homestead, if available to you in your county & always try to pay more per month into Escrow, if at all possible. I knew my mortgage would be going up this year, I didn't think it would be going up by $800/month.
