Put your dog into a STAY, practice a few rounds of easy temptations and rewards to build up their confidence, then show your dog your hand signal for STAY and calmy step out of view and return immediately. Reward them for not getting up. Repeat this over and over to build up to longer durations of you being out of view. And ALWAYS practice this on leash, especially if your dog is already prone to following your everywhere.
