What do landlords even do? All jokes aside, we have to ask, why is it so expensive to purchase a home? Especially compared to 20 years ago? It boils down to supply and demand. There simply aren't enough homes on the market to meet the demand of buyers. This problem is amplified by real estate investors (which can be ordinary people or financial institutions). These investors profit from (simply put) purchasing homes and renting them out. If we want to solve our housing crisis, we have to start by putting investors at the bottom of the list, and first time home buyers at the top.
