When I try to tell my family how my marathon went and all I can think about is my emotional support pickle that I took from a stranger. 🥒😅
THROWBACK from the 2023 Chicago Marathon!!! Still thinking about it. HAHAH.
Adding to the list of things I wish someone told me before the Chicago Marathon...how many strangers will offer runners snacks, fuel, and drinks!! Ranging from 🔥ball shots, to donuts, to pop, to candy!!
It was very kind of people to offer so many goodies, and I believe they did so with the BEST intentions, but I had my moms voice screaming in my head to not take treats from strangers.
Until later in the marathon when I just NEEDED something salty. A woman had gloves on and was handing athletes pickles from a fork. I gave in and attempted to get it down, I have a hard time chewing after running for 2+ hours.
Rule of thumb that goes for everything, nothing new on race day!!!

FINAL WEEKLY MILEAGE BREAKDOWN👇 In 2023, I ran the Chicago Marathon. And to be honest, my training was horrible. I was inconsistent, unfocused, and though I was excited about the race and hitting a sub 4 hour time, I was disappointed in myself for not giving the prep my all. For my first 50 mile ultramarathon, I chose to focus on weekly mileage vs time. I needed to prove to myself I could do it. And I gave my all to training. Here is what the past 15 weeks looked like: Week 1: 43 Miles Week 2: 45 Miles Week 3: 49 Miles Week 4: 52 Miles Week 5: 55 Miles Week 6: 58 Miles Week 7: 60 Miles Week 8: 59 Miles Week 9: 71 Miles Week 10: 71 Miles Week 11: 71 Miles Week 12: 70 Miles Week 13: 99 Miles (oops, pacing Chase) Week 14: 0 Miles Week 15: 35 Miles I have never run this much in my life. It was not easy, but I feel prepared and confident that I did everything I could to have a successful race. All we have left to do is show up and get it done. T-5 days. 🫡
