What to do on Official Move-In Day! We moved in about 2 weeks ago, and we will like to share what we did for the official move into house ceremony day! Things to note before the move in date: 1. Use online calendar to search for an auspicious date for the move in 2. The official move in date is considered the day where household member sleeps over in the house. Moving things into the house prior to move in day is not considered the official move in date 3. When moving over the bed, do not adjust it to the correct position until the official move-in date. You can place it at an angle or leave a gap from the wall 4. Scatter 168 $1 coins around the house On the move-in date: 5. Wear new clothes! 6. Roll pineapple into the house 7. Male to carry money in red packets 8. Female to carry rice, oil, sauce, tea leaves, vinegar ,salt 9. Eldest member of the household will walk into the house first 10. Gather the 168 $1 coins scattered and place in red packet and tuck the red packet under mattress 11. Align the bed back to correct position 12. Open all windows 13. Ensure all electricity, lighting and appliances are switched on upon moving in for at least 5 mins 14. Within auspicious hours of move in timing, align the bed 15. Within auspicious hours of move in timing, cook tangyuan and consume them for sweetness 16. Stay overnight on official move-in date 17.
