Did you hear about the man who may have left his EX-girlfriend $1 MILLION because he didn’t update his beneficiary 😳 SAVE this as a reminder! 🔖 To give you context, the guy died in 2015 and his family is STILL fighting in court to avoid this from happening. Believe it or not, this is extremely common and it is COSTLY! This is exactly why it is SO crucial that you are on top of updating your beneficiaries whenever you have a major life event happen. 👉🏼EX: get married, divorced, have more children, current beneficiaries pass away, etc. If you didn’t already know, beneficiary forms trump wills and testaments in court so PLEASE make sure you are making this a priority. If you don’t have a beneficiary at all, the money will have to go through probate before it goes to your estate, which ends up being expensive as well. This is not the job of the company, bank, advisor, agent, etc. It is the sole responsibility of the client. So take the 10 minutes to adjust to avoid YEARS of stress on the family you want to have the money or the chance of them losing altogether.
