We decided to stop by the new The Twisted Fork with some friends for lunch, and we were very pleasantly surprised. They offer an Asian, Italian, and Mexican fusion, and they nailed it 🤤 One of our favorites was the blackened ahi tostadas with a hint of wasabi, lime, and rice on a wonton tostada. Many of their dishes come with two sides. We got the salmon with some grilled asparagus and smoked gouda mac n cheese, which was absolutely delicious. The sesame and honey glaze for the salmon was excellent 👌🏼 It’s hard to miss the mark on any green chile dishes around the area. This one is perfectly roasted and flavorful, with a bit of a kick. A filling take of an alfredo pasta with chicken ☺️ We had to get back to work but next time we are trying the drinks for sure. First time at Puro Maiz on the east side. The decor and vibe are what brought us in, the place has a beautiful and vibrant Mexican theme 🇲🇽 They offer traditional Mexican dishes: enchiladas, tacos (regular and dorados), flautas, sopes, and chilaquiles just to name a few. We ended up ordering some chilaquiles and flautas with rice and beans as a side 👌🏼 The food was great and the sauce is really good. We felt it was a bit on the tex-mex side of the spectrum, which we also enjoy. New Hotspot! We visited Ay Dios Mio in central El Paso. You’ll first notice a gorgeous full-wall mural as you walk in and a darker more private bar in the back with cool neon signs 😍 You will find chef Enrique Lozano (whom you may know from El Charlatan) behind these creations, you can even find the famous ramen on the menu the first Wednesday of every month! 🍜 To start, we tried corn ribs for the first time. It’s deep-fried corn with a crunchy and delicious texture, zesty, a little spicy. The perfect appetizer 🌽 Their bone marrow with chimichurri, toreados, and tortillas instantly became one of our favorites, and the portion was bigger than we expected. Definitely try these out! 🦴 For our entrees, we tried the pork chop with chilmole, which is a spicy black mole-like paste, but think of it as made in the peninsula and with smokey habaneros instead. It’s not that spicy, it’s really good, and a big portion. We also went with the traditional asada tacos, which were equally delicious 🤤 For dessert, we had a churro cart. We were surprised to find an actual tiny but functional churro cart packed with churros and three different homemade syrups👌🏼 Their full bar offers some great and pretty drinks too. We had El Chapulin Colorado which is pretty accurately and deliciously described as a tamarindo candy in a drink, and the prickly nopalito, which is a prickly pear syrup (made in-house) with mezcal drink served in a nopalito glass! We also got a bonus old-fashioned because it is one of our go-to drinks we love 💕 Don't miss the patio in the back with pretty lights and another beautiful mural. We visited Evaga Desert Kitchen at The Elmont in Montecillo and were in for a treat! This is a highly recommended hotspot, we had such a wonderful experience! 😍 The place, including the restaurant, the swim club, and the area, has a great vibe. The food selection combines Mexican and Asian fusion, but they have some unique items on the menu that you will not find anywhere else 🤤 First and foremost, you MUST try the compressed watermelon. It’s a starter, but it works well as a dessert, too. It's compressed watermelon topped with goat cheese cream and almonds, and it has a citrusy taste. It's one of those things that should not work together, and yet it does, and we loved it! 🍉 The arrachera we had is served as a steak with their version of chimichurri, potatoes, and veggies, the portion is large and the taste is great, ours was perfectly cooked to a medium 🥩 We had the evaga chicken sandwich, which on paper might look like your typical option, but the spicy honey sauce and Asian spin on it makes it a great choice. You have to try it! 😍 Evaga is also a very nice place for drinks. We had the cosmo and the margarita, not overwhelmingly strong, a little on the sour side in a good way, and not too sweet 🍸 While it may be a bit intimidating to drive up there, the area is open to the public. The restaurant is open now, and we heard the swim club will open to the public on April 19th with a lot of DJ’s coming up starting with Afrojack on April the 27th 🎧 We definitely want to go back to try some other things, like their brunch where they offer interesting and unique takes on the classics. We wanted to try a new place for a belated birthday party and ended up at Cónico Cocina Mexicana! 🌽 This is a nice, modern, small place in downtown. Expect small portions and elevated-style cuisine with a price tag to match, but delicious! The cochinita pibil is legit (we had just returned from a trip to southern Mexico and had high expectations, we were not disappointed). Their blue corn tortillas are unique, and the drinks were pretty good too👌🏼 We brought our birthday cake, but they charge $25 for the plates and utensils to eat it there. I met a friend for dinner at Unbranded Tavern & Kitchen since we both hadn't been and it turned out to be a great spot for drinks and food ☺️ The place has a great vibe with very friendly staff. They start you off with complimentary chicharrones/pork rinds and salsa 🤤 My friend ordered the Baja Fish Tacos and I ordered the El Paso Hot Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries (not included). We've passed by Los Aguachiles many many times and we finally got to try them out! And, oh, they did not disappoint 😍 They have gourmet-like seafood, and obviously specialize in aguachiles. They have a variety of sauces and fortunately, they have their Tulum Aguachiles, which is like a sampler, so we got to try 4 different ones. They have red, green, black, and mango habanero (with real habanero slices and mango pieces, deceptively, it is not very spicy). They were all delicious, although if we had to pick one, the red, with actual chiltepin was our favorite! A must try! 👌🏼 They have a lot of single taco options, we went with the Sayulita and it was perfect. The tacos are quite big and loaded, easily a few of these would make for a full meal. We also had the fetuccini poblano, which is an interesting mix. Poblano sauce with fetuccini is already a great combination, add some shrimp, and you can't go wrong with it. It was as good as it sounds 🤤 We had a few drinks to accompany (and wrap up) our meal. They are working on revamping the drinks and cocktails menu. We had a refreshing negroni, and a delicious and light espresso martini 🍸 Overall, we highly recommend Los Aguachiles, the service was great and they were very knowledgeable about the cuisine, recipes and spot on with their recommendations based on our taste. It had been a long time since we visited Dayvasos. We dropped by their Zaragoza location to get a Dayvaso Super Mega to share, it's huge and has clams, shrimp and a ton of beef jerky 🤤 We didn't know they served other spiked drinks, so we tried our luck with a cantarito loco, which has some tequila, orange juice, and soda, which was pretty good size for the price. Next time we will have to try some of their other hard drinks, we saw they have palomas, screwdrivers, and a few other things. Super refreshing for these final hot days of the year 👌🏼 We also tried their dayva chips with shimp and jerky, which are chips with beef jerky, shrimp, Japanese-style peanuts, tamarindo, and soy sauce. Nom… nom… NoMi! El Paso has grown its ramen scene so much! I remember a few years ago when options were limited and almost non-existent. Today, we have a lot of places, each with its flair and go-to comfort Asian-fusion food and we're here for it! ♥️ This time we visited NoMi on the west side for some delicious and appropriately named Phucket nachos to share. For ramen, we went with their Tonkotsu and their Spicy Miso. It was not spicy at all, but we quickly remedied the situation by enhancing it with some chili oil 👌🏼 The dessert was a really nice surprise we had not tried before. Unique, creamy, and sweet, we had the Trickshaw Sticky Rice, for matcha lovers with a touch of amaretto and coconut cream. If you love matcha do not pass on this one (to be fair, they have a lot of other options we still want to try) ☺️ If you are an anime or manga fan like us you'll feel just at home. Last but not least from our latest visit to Socorro, our stop at Wing Bros! 🍗 Sitting alongside with El Tata and Only Sweets + The Corn Hub, Wing Bros offers some (you guessed it) wings and fries! It's great to have so many options in such close proximity, and the food is really good! 👌🏼 We got some mango habanero wings, spicy and sweet, with a side of fries. A very interesting combination with the buffalo chicken fries, which are like loaded fries but with tons of chicken (and buffalo sauce ofc), the best of both worlds 🤤 We also got some fried pickles and having them at dusk outdoors gave us this feeling as if we were visiting a county fair ☺️ A great spot for some street-style wings and fries, and complement your meal with some snacks and drinks from the neighboring trucks.
