As a professional catsitter, the number of times I’ve found mold in my clients cat water fountains and immediately dismantled them and cleaned them (and also gently told their parents about getting a new cat water fountain) is too many go count. Those disgusting pics are taken by me. This is the ONLY water fountain I’ll recommend. And then of course I tell them to put out a regular bowl of water too in case of any outages. (And also to leave the toilet seat up *just in case*). Dehydration can kill your cat quickly. Please wash your fountain once a week minimum and wash all parts. Hearing your cat scream is the most heartbreaking noise in the world. When Luna started screaming like this we went to the vet to rule everything medical out and they said she’s healthy (minus stage two kidney disease), but this is what senior cat dementia looks like. She will get lost in our small apartment. She will yell. A LOT. Her memory isnt all there anymore, though we swear she knows exactly what time it is all day long. Give your senior cats extra comfort, extra love, extra patience for those 6am cat screaming sessions, and remember that one day youd give anything to hear these screams again.
