No matter what that inaccurate tracking app (I’m talking to you MyFitnessPal) tells you, 1200 calories is NOTTT enough! My Macros & Metabolism Beautiful Peach Podcast episode 114: Why You Should Not Use MyFitnessPal to Calculate Macros — listen on Apple or Spotify 🎧 Time to nerd out haha! 🤓 When it comes to our metabolism, when we restrict ourselves to that 1200-calorie place, it lowers our metabolic set point! The scientific term for this is “metabolic adaption” (what I wrote my masters thesis on hehe NERD 🎓🙋🏼♀️)! When we think of the term “metabolic adaption”, we can break it down into: ▶ Metabolic: metabolism. ▶ Adaptation: adapting. Aka our metabolism is adapting to a lower calorie intake! So when we start eating more than our set point without healing our metabolism FIRST, our metabolism wasn’t prepared for more food, so it is essentially saying “WOAH girl, what are you doing there?!” 😳 and its reaction is to create weight regain! Instead, we heal our metabolism through REVERSE DIETING! 📈 Reverse Dieting means means: 1️⃣ Eating MORE food // calories without the mass weight regain 2️⃣ Allowing yourself ANY type of food (absolutely no rules here!!) 3️⃣ Therefore healing your relationship with food AND healing your metabolism Reverse dieting uses very specific process that allows our metabolism not to be in shock and instead we increase the metabolic set point (what I teach in my Reverse Diet Course, my step-by-step guide teaching you exactly how to reverse diet)! When that set point is high enough, you can safely lose weight without massive restriction and you’ll be able to keep the weight off + keep a higher/restored metabolism!
