@bobbyparrish I'm pretty sure if you say you have to avoid sugar and then turn around and say you can't always avoid sugar, that's an inconsistency. But in all seriousness, here's an open invitation to come discuss it on our podcast where we would be more than happy to have a civil discussion about this. It doesn't make you less of a person to stand up and say "oh yeah, I was doing a bad job of making people aware of this or that and I'm going to do better for my consumers". Sheet pan Turkey Meatloaf and Roasted Vegetables Ingredients Meatloaf 1 pound (16 oz.) 93% ground turkey 4 oz. cauliflower rice 6 Tbs no sugar added ketchup (divided) 1/3 c. minced onion 1 large egg 1/2 tsp thyme 1 tsp salt 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce (divided) Vegetables 16 oz. broccoli (cut into florets) and 16 oz. carrots 3 Tbs olive oil 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, 2 tsp garlic powder Directions 1. Preheat oven to 425°F. 2. In a large bowl, toss vegetables with oil and seasonings. Spread out on a large sheet pan in a single layer on one side of the pan. 3. In a medium bowl combine turkey, cauliflower rice, 4 Tbs ketchup, onion, egg, thyme, salt, and 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce. Mix well. 4. Divide turkey mixture into 3 equal portions on other side of sheet pan 5. In a small bowl mix remaining 2 Tbs ketchup and 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce and brush onto 3 loaves. 6. Bake 30 minutes until meat is cooked and vegetables are slightly charred. 7. When cooled, put one loaf and 1/3 of the vegetables in each food storage container. 8. Enjoy one now and put one in refrigerator and one in the freezer for other nights. Servings Each serving = 1 Protein, 10 oz. Last week I weighed myself for the first time in years. As a busy mom I forget to eat then I grab quick calories which are often sugary snacks. I also have a late night snack habit. Self care used to be serving myself with lots of fast food, processed food, and as much ice cream as I could eat. Somehow I thought this was showing care to myself… Oh, was I wrong! Now we all know how much I always emphasize that cravings are often rooted in emotional eating, and go into this on other posts! But sometimes cravings can also have a physiological cause. Typically if we eat refined foods that are high in sugar and simple carbohydrates- it can lead us to having a blood glucose spike which then causes us to have increased appetite and potential cravings! Does this mean you can never eat sugar again? Absolutely not. I always say having awareness so you can make small do-able changes that suit you empowers YOU to decide how you want to incorporate them! Having something like cookies as a snack VS incorporating them as part of your meal can be a small change that makes a big difference :) I also like to make desserts as part of my meal as I find that way I am less likely to overeat on it because I am not eating it out of hunger! Remember, these are just helpful tips! A lot of us really struggle when it comes to being able to stop when it comes to sweets or sticking to portion size. We often feel like it’s our lack of control, or lack of willpower. We make it mean something about ourselves and our ability to succeed when it comes to our weight loss goals. So what do we typically do? Try and cut the food out cold turkey. Some of us find this easier in the short term. But slowly after time, we realise that we cannot avoid that food forever. Once we re-integrate it, we are back to the cycle of restriction and deprivation and it keeps on repeating. What makes it hard to stop has nothing to do with willpower, but more towards how we choose to think about these foods. How does it feel when you tell yourself you can ONLY have one? My guess is you feel scarcity, and from that space you ended up overeating. The key to stop overeating is to change your THOUGHTS and relationship with that food. 🎙️ In this weeks episode of my Sweet Tooth Boss Podcast, I speak about the steps of how to do this. Sweets were always there for me. From my early childhood, it was an full blown love affair ❤️ In 2017, I broke up with ice cream and all things sweet 🍦 🍰 🍪 because I was addicted and couldn’t stop and my life was suffering. A lot of us really struggle when it comes to being able to stop when it comes to sweets or sticking to portion size. We often feel like it’s our lack of control, or lack of willpower. We make it mean something about ourselves and our ability to succeed when it comes to our weight loss goals. So what do we typically do? Try and cut the food out cold turkey. Some of us find this easier in the short term. But slowly after time, we realise that we cannot avoid that food forever. Once we re-integrate it, we are back to the cycle of restriction and deprivation and it keeps on repeating. What makes it hard to stop has nothing to do with willpower, but more towards how we choose to think about these foods. How does it feel when you tell yourself you can ONLY have one? My guess is you feel scarcity, and from that space you ended up overeating. The key to stop overeating is to change your THOUGHTS and relationship with that food. 🎙️ In this weeks episode of my Sweet Tooth Boss Podcast, I speak about the steps of how to do this. There was a time where I would have to finish the ENTIRE bag of sweets because I felt like once I started I was already ‘off track’ and may as well start again tomorrow. So I would try my best not to have anything like this in the house But these days I can have sweets in the cupboard for WEEKS and not even think about them! I have as craving sour sweets ( haven’t had ones like these in years) so decided to include them in my plan this week! But after tasting it, it’s honestly not as good as I remember! I would rate it 5/10. So I didn’t force myself to finish or eat it, instead I asked myself what would be most satisfying right now? So I put them away and got a more satisfying treat instead! Today that was two pieces of my hazelnut chocolate. Something I teach in my Sweet Tooth Boss program is to be FUSSY with the treats you decide to have. I always say if it’s not a minimum of 8/10- why settle if you don’t like the taste of it? Go for treats that you actually ENJOY VS just eating them out of scarcity of because it’s in-front of you 💗 So next time ask yourself: what is this out of 10? A craving is JUST an uncomfortable feeling. What we choose to make it mean, determine how we respond to it Often when we are trying to lose weight and cravings come up, we resist it and feel like we have to use willpower. All this does is make the craving stronger until eventually we cave and end up overeating on the thing we were craving. BUT a craving will go away if we choose to eat the food or not. Just like other emotions, it doesn’t last forever! Here are some of my favorite ways to sit with the discomfort of feeling a craving, when choosing not to have that food: “I hear you craving, but I'm doing what's best for both of us" "Eating this doesn't solve the problem" “I can have it if it's what I truly want" “This is just an uncomfortable feeling.
