✨Day 12✨ Waking up with my eye more swollen than the night before was discouraging because this was Day 3 of taking Prednisone, an oral steroid, and I was ready for it work…faster. I was so itchy and @dantransform wanted to help put some ointment on my skin while I ate so I could get something in my stomach before taking my next dose 🥹. The love he pours into me in sickness and in health overflows and has been such a blessing in helping me to heal and stay positive. Even though the effects were slower than anticipated and parts of my face seemed worse, I felt hopeful the Prednisone was working because my weeping blisters were drying up and my jaw was less swollen. The best thing to calm the itchiness has been cold compress - gel ice packs, bags of ice, and cold aluminum cans. Attempted to sleep with a combo of those around my neck and on my face 😎 Our family is still feeling so much encouragement, positive energy, and love from you guys and your support means more to us than you will ever know. I get a call from my husband that Rugers face was swollen and red around his eyes, nose and mouth. I told him to give him a Benadryl. I get home from work that next morning and his face was a little better but these huge welts popped up all over his body so we took him to the vet and gave him another Benadryl. Who knew that pitbulls are notorious for allergic reactions like this. We learned that we could give him a larger dose of Benadryl than what we gave him. Its 1 mg of Benadryl per pound of your dogs weight. Ruger is almost 80 lbs so we could have gave him 75mg of Benadryl. He got a steroid shot at the vet which worked so fast. Had we known that we could give him 75mg of Benadryl 2-3 times a day it could of saved us that trip to the vet. Day 1 started with just a little itchy patch by my clavicle. Day 10 was the biggest transformation since this all started. I woke up first because I couldn’t sleep and crept up on @dantransform to surprise him while he was checking on the kids. I’m so appreciative of many of you who are concerned and urging me to go to the ER, but I’ve confirmed with my healthcare team that I’m safe at home on my regimen since I don’t have any respiratory or vision issues. Since we’ve been slowly weaning naturally for 1.5m, once I started on the oral steroids, it felt like God’s timing to stop. Healing hasn’t been a straight line, which has been frustrating because waking up feeling worse than the night before makes it hard to trust the process and to be patient. But after we have breakfast with the kids, @dantransform has been banishing me to our bedroom for a nap.
