I get a call from my husband that Rugers face was swollen and red around his eyes, nose and mouth. I told him to give him a Benadryl. I get home from work that next morning and his face was a little better but these huge welts popped up all over his body so we took him to the vet and gave him another Benadryl. Who knew that pitbulls are notorious for allergic reactions like this. We learned that we could give him a larger dose of Benadryl than what we gave him. Its 1 mg of Benadryl per pound of your dogs weight. Ruger is almost 80 lbs so we could have gave him 75mg of Benadryl. He got a steroid shot at the vet which worked so fast. Had we known that we could give him 75mg of Benadryl 2-3 times a day it could of saved us that trip to the vet.
