Basically the stucco on the edge had fallen apart and gave bees access to that entire roof. Safe to say that those bees would have filled it all up in no time, luckily they had me relocate that hive sooner than later. I didn't have to do the repairs on that roof but I definitely gave them a discount since it's my second time there! Gotta treat my customers right! Well this job was short of a nightmare for me. I got called out to a suspicion of a beehive near the chimney of this mansion. I had to get on the roof and remove tile and locate the hive. Originally I expected the hive in the chimney but after inspection, found the bees in the roof. As you can see I had to open a lot of roof to be able to remove the entire colony. It was definitely there for a few years, so I had work cutout for me on the edge of this roof, high up. I'm always trying to understand whether it's an established situation or a new situation and one of the biggest telling signs is that bees that are floating around with indecisive behavior are usually new situations. Luckily the tenant was not home and was on vacation and it was requested that I do the removal from the inside of the apartment and as you can tell there were bees everywhere. This customer called me with a complaint of a swarm of bees sitting on the outside of the wall to his home. It looks to me like the swarm already has its sights set on a location they wanted to move into. Apparently this customer had another beehive in the floor of a shed right nearby which I'm assuming swarmed and this swarm decided to settle on his wall. I will be returning later on to remove the beehive from the shed floor as well but in the meantime you can watch me scoop bees by hand. See a swarm, have it relocated, this can save someone a bigger situation and expense. You would think doing bee removals is crazy enough, but imagine mixing that with tight spaces in the dark and high up and you have bees crawling all over you?..... Yeah it can easily become your worst nightmare. We tried chasing out with a little bit of repellent but that didn't work because it was an established hive. What was unusual is that the roof section was connected with the wall from inside so I had to get into the attic space and crawl my way to that wall and cut it open to remove all the bees. Once the bees were all removed I had to take the box to the top of the roof and leave it as close as possible to the original entry point so that the bees could find the box and relocate themselves to it.
