I Love This Bar - Toby Keith

For those who may not know, my father passed away when I was six years old. After his accident, life was difficult for my family. And he soon became someone we never talked about, but always felt. I think that’s the weird thing about losing someone so significant as a child. There’s no way to fully mourn a person that you never got the chance to know. To me- My dad was never gone; it just always felt like he was missing. Maybe that’s because I couldn’t look up and see him in the stands or call him when things got tough. But I have spent most of my life trying to make him proud. Now you’re probably wondering how this relates to this video. Two years ago, I picked up a guitar. At first, it was the perfect distraction. But then the music started to put words to the feelings I’ve never been able to explain. That’s what “Even Though I’m Leaving” has done. Singing and playing have become therapy for me. It’s a part of my life that I’ve wanted to share but have been too self-conscious of my voice and playing to actually go for it. Nonetheless, here we are. It’s not perfect, but I’m learning. 🤠🙏🏼
