Make sure to always have a catch-cup ready when handling terrestrial species off the ground… This is an example of what not to do, but we are fortunate enough the tarantula crawled up my arm and onto my butt. He didn’t fall, he didn’t lose his footing, and he is 100% okay… but even professionals like ourselves, need to always practice safe handling techniques especially with large tarantulas. There was a chance that this tarantula could have ran off the table, and landed on the floor rupturing its abdomen.
