Have you ever thought about a negative experience and instantly start spirally into stress and anxiety? You could be having a great day with no flares and then all of the sudden with a single thoughts - anxiety sets in and pain turns on. This is called the thought-feeling loop. When we look at thought through a physiological lens, we can begin to understand that our body's can't tell the different between what's imagined and what's real or what's actually dangerous and what is just a false alarm. 🚨 When we think of a negative experience, our limbic brain 🧠 brings the emotion or feeling associated with that experience to the forefront of our attention. This then sends a signal to the nervous system to produce the same hormones from that initial experience - AKA cortisol your stress hormone levels can rise. Here's the catch, the more these emotions are produced the more they become engrained in the subconscious mind. Research shows negative epigenetic changes can occur in the body from increase cortisol and adrenaline which can lead to chronic illness. Repeat this process enough times and yes your thoughts can actually make you sick but the reverse is also true! ✨ Whether you know it or not, your thoughts could be the single most important thing in your healing. 🙌🏼 So how can we use our thoughts to promote healing? We become a conscious observer of our thoughts and rewiring the subconscious. 💫💫 #nervoussystemregulation #neuroplasticity #chronicillnesshealing #nervoussystemhealth #chronicillnesslife #autoimmunehealing
