These urinals serve a dual purpose by not only addressing the challenge of outdoor urine streams in urban areas but also contributing to the production of eco-friendly fertilizer. The collected urine undergoes a process at a recovery plant, where phosphorus, a vital nutrient for plant growth, is extracted and transformed into struvite fertilizer. This environmentally conscious initiative aims to reduce dependence on finite phosphate rock reserves, emphasizing the renewable nature of phosphorus present in urine.
