Um, why is this me?! The more I watch these early episodes of ‘Roseanne,’ the more I realize how revolutionary they were. It’s so rare to see a larger person struggle with their weight on TV in a real way. And over the years we saw the character of Roseanne address her size and her struggle with food. Can you think of another TV show from that era that did that? I can’t. Also, I’ll admit it, it’s difficult to appreciate ‘Roseanne’ without thinking about modern day Roseanne Barr. But I encourage you to recognize that, sure, she’s complicated now, but appreciate this early work, before it all went wrong.
