Alabama went in as an underdog, with a team that did not really have an identity to the national media. Alabama fans knew their team's identity. Yes, they had George Teague. They had John Copeland. They had David Palmer(The Deuce). They had Jay Barker(toughest Alabama QB ever) who completed 4 passes for 18 yards. They had Sherman Williams. They had Derrick Lasssic. What they didn't have was a chance to win. They didn't have a chance at a National Championship. They won the Sugar Bowl 34-13 and emerged as National Champions. Today, Alabama is facing a team on a 29 game winning streak; the two time defending National Champion Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama sits at #8 as an underdog, in a similar situation.
