Mom wakes up at 6am to take the kids to school and then pushes her potato cart over a mile to the pyramids and sells all day. She doesn’t usually get home until 10pm-11pm as she has to push the cart back and lock it up. This also doesn’t give her much time to be at home to handle the daily chores better and the kids are just doing whatever they can to support her. They are very understanding to the situation and have even told me many times not to do any type of shopping without them because they know that these Egyptians raise the prices when they see a foreigner. (It’s the little things ♥️😭) I did come to Egypt to see how I could help my people in Gaza, but along the way, I met this family and I couldn’t wrap my head around not helping them. These kids will grow up and remember that a Palestinian American helped them along the way and I can only hope when they get older that they’ll be in the position to help where I couldn’t. These people have become my second family. And it breaks my heart that I can’t do much more. I’d love to change their lives, I wish I could get some support from the world to have someone to clean this place up and buy them some new furniture. But I feel as if the world has become to self absorbed. I have lost hope in humanity, and if you don’t know, this I why I want to be wealthy. Yes, the materials can be nice at times, but if I was in the position, I’d be able to help them without needing anyone! But until then, I can only keep grinding. If you are one of the people that are willing to help, I want you to understand that your dollar will go A LONG way here. Her rent being 1500 pounds is roughly $30-$40!!
