Max’s birthday cookie (for dogs) Serves 8-10 large dog treats or cut them in half to share with even more furry pals Time: 25 minutes Prep: 5 minutes Ingredients: 1c whole wheat flour 1c rolled oats 2 large eggs 1/4c creamy natural peanut butter 2-3 tablespoons of natural honey plus more for garnish 1c hot or warm water Optional garnish: 2-3 ounces of dry dog food or treats (whatever you have) Special equipment: cookie cutter or a sheet tray with parchment Set oven to 350 degrees In a large bowl mix all of the ingredients together to form a dough, it’s going to feel like playdough but it will get smoother the more you mix. If making cookies, lightly flour your work surface, roll the dough out to about ½” thickness, and cut as many cookies as you can, rerolling the dough scraps as needed. These cookies won’t spread too much, if at all. Place on a lined baking sheet or press the mixture into a desired shape, (I made a heart) then press in the little dog kibble or treats in whatever pattern you think your dog might enjoy. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, so they have a slight toast on top. Remove from the oven and let cool completely! Drizzle with some more honey if desired, cut and serve!
