‎على هذه الأرض ما يستحق الحياة As one of the most memorable chapters in my life comes to a close, it has unexpectedly become the most bittersweet moments of my life. Not necessarily because I’m going to miss the memories, but rather bittersweet because while I am celebrating a personal accomplishment, my brothers and sisters in Gaza are celebrating another day of survival. It has struck me that this world is nothing. As my mother is celebrating the accomplishment of receiving my education, a mother in Gaza is begging for one more minute with her son before he is buried in a mass makeshift grave. However, while our efforts continue, I have learned that a Palestinian pursuing their education is a form of resistance in itself. This generation has the responsibility of allowing the truth to prevail. إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا I chose to have this verse embroidered on my stole well before the aggression on Gaza, soon on realizing I have not seen one true day of hardship of my life. My blessings have been underestimated until I have seen the horrendous atrocities done on people that could have been easily been me with some minor changes in history. To the people of Gaza, I am sorry I have been given the entitlement to walk a stage as your children will never go back to school. I am sorry that you have not been given a fair basic right to live and feel safe. I am sorry that because of the way history played out, I am watching the injustice of this cruel world in the safety of my own home. I am sorry that the world and its governments have failed you enormously. Every step in my life will be made with the reminder that the people of Gaza have fought and paid the price for our identity, and for that we are forever indebted to them. #تيك_توك_عرب #تخرج
