Do you get stage fright?! 😮💨😓 We all process EXCITEMENT differently, fam. If you legitimately desire to stand on stage and share your voice with people- your stage fright is, possibly, excitement… wearing a hat. 🎩 Ask yourself: 1) Have I rehearsed/prepared for this performance? Do I know the material well? 2) Do I want people to experience my art/voice/creation? If the answer is “yes!” To both of those questions, take a deep breath through your nose. Slow exhale. Do some long-hold stretching and REFRAME. Not everyone will have the change to stand on a stage and present their craft. You do! It’s wonderful to be excited. Have a chat with your body. Remind him or her that you have wired very hard for just this moment. Thank your body for trying to protect you with all the fight-or-flight responses, and breathe into gratitude because you GET to do the thing you love and you are prepared and ready to go. Slow your heart and mind blowing your breath. Enjoy yourself! 🎤😘🙏🏻 #VocalCoach #Singer #performance #Performer #nervous #stagefright #voice #Vocals #Breath #breathing

You know what I absolutely love about this song? Well, a lot of freaking things... but: the first chorus is floaty and airy and restrain and painfully subdued. The next is full bodied and rich. We get to hear 2 completely different versions of the same melody. Effing electrifying. ⚡️ Personally, I tend to gravitate towards big, bold vocal passages, but the first chorus- the one in this kitchen jam video- allows me to tap into a part of my expression that I yearn for: Vulnerability. There are many ways to be evocative as a vocalist. 🎤 Don’t ever underestimate the beauty of *purposeful restraint*. It takes plenty of skill, from a technical perspective but also, it calls on a singer’s willingness to take listeners to a place we often reserve for private moments. This chorus is yearning. Crying. Sighing. Grieving. And if you lean in to your own vulnerability, both you AND your listeners get to feel big things. ❤️ #vocalcoach #singing #singer #voice #ladygaga #vulnerability

Vibrato can be a sneaky mistress! It can also be a fire hose when you need a garden hose! 😂 This post is for those who have found their way to vibrato and are looking to fine-tune their sound. It’s a humungous factor. Vibrato can be delicious icing… 🎂 Or so much sugar that you get a toothache. 🥴 Be thoughtful, fam! #Vibrato #VocalCoach #Singer #Sing #Voice

I thought y’all might need an eclipse themed soundtrack for the day. 😜🤷♀️ My vocal texture and artistic decisions are completely different than Bonnie Tyler‘s. But alas… I still had a blast singing this tune. Even though I followed much of the skeleton and details she laid out, it sounds completely different, right? As a working musician (who isn’t touring stadiums 😆), you might be asked to cover all sorts of tunes for weddings, special events, etc. Are you excited by the challenge of reimagining any song a client might throw at you?! Or does it freak you out? ♥️🎤 #Singer #VocalCoach #Cover #eclipse
