oh hey there, it’s Flower Snacks Time!!! Magnolia are harbingers of spring, and if you get a Really Good One they can taste like magical warm spices tossed with delicate florals and mysterious teas. They’re great dessert ingredients so I definitely recommend tucking into these magnolia cupcakes! Let me know if you make them :) #magnoliaflowers #magnolia #foraging #mushroomauntie

(and yes, i read the article). the author can’t manage to speak accurately about Indigenous people, instead choosing to fear-monger about mythology (which is still a very useful way to transmit important knowledge, even empirical and observable phenomena). He briefly admits that Indigenous people aren’t a monolith, yet insists on viewing Indigenous knowledge systems as a monolith anyway. He shouldn’t be writing about this topic at all, because he doesn’t even have a surface-level understanding. He also manages to insult Western scientists, implying that they won’t be able to sort through information to determine what is valuable and correct, as if that isn’t the scientific process (and conveniently ignores the fact that lots of Indigenous folks are valuable members of Western scientific communities). I’m honestly disgusted that @Forbes published this trashy opinion piece at all. It’s racist, infantilizing, and most of all, wrong. Anyway, tag your favorite Indigenous scientists in the comments!
