Those polyester fringe halloween costumes really did the 1920s a disservice. Its permanently butned into my brain that thats what the 1920s looks like and nothing could be further from the truth! I dont thibk it helps that the fashion plates are kind of ugly either. #1920s #historicalcostuming

An old favorite! I always think of this as my Amy March Dress. Amy ptobably got married in about 1870, so this dress might have been something she would have put in her wedding trousseau! Given she married well, a dinner dress would almost certainly be something she owned. It also would not have been uncommon for her two own two bodices for the same gown. Perhaps something like the one in the video for dinners and one with both a lower neckline and short sleeves for a ball. This was a great way to make your wardrobe stretch a little further and would save money on the many many yards of fabric that were required for the voluminous skirts. #fashionhistory #civilwar #victorian #victorianfashion

Practical? Who needs practical? Im also so honored and grateful that a friend found me worthy of so much time and love! Thank you Rebecca for making me such a wonderful gift, I shall cherish them 🥲 I did not make these slippers, but I do know there is a pattern/video available on the making of said slippers by the incomparable @Nicole Rudolph . You can find her video by searching her name and “slippers” as the key word. I’ll be making a pair of these myself I think! #edwardian #teagown #victorian #loungewear #historicalcostuming
