Yesterday I had my first intermediate Samoan class. While I’ve been living here on Tutuila for over 4 months now, I’ve still been struggling with my confidence in speaking the language. It’s funny— I’ve taken on learning a few languages and never cared about making mistakes. But it’s such a different ball game when you’re trying to speak one of your parent’s native tongues. One that you grew up hearing but were never taught. A language you’ve always called your own yet struggle to speak. Like a home cooked meal you always ate for comfort but failed to learn how to make yourself. Excited to keep on learning and growing throughout my journey here🩵
