OK so something amazing and magical happened! This is a Bubble on the dry dry sand.. If you watch closely you will see the sand, ever so slowly, being drawn up the film of the Bubble. NOW, we think that this is because of cohesion - where molecules like to stick together, and surface tension which allows for the tight bridging between molecules, like an elastic glue. HOWEVER - we have never ever seen anything quite as special as this. The air was damp with a sea mist.. could that have been the catalyst? Any budding physicists out there that can help us?
