Share this video with someone who needs to know more about HERPES! Both variants of herpes simplex virus, HSV-1 and HSV-2, can cause both oral and genital infections. Some people may have no symptoms and STILL can transmit the virus. Herpes is often more of a social burden than a physical one. Despite being quite manageable for most, the stigma surrounding the infection can lead to fear of judgment and discrimination. However, with education and understanding, we can lessen this stigma and emphasize that having herpes doesn’t define someone’s worth or quality of life. Acne is also commonly confused for Herpes. A good rule of thumb is that herpes lesions contain clear or slightly yellow fluid, rather than pus.
