After 202 days of incubation, my first monitors have hatched! These are baby Varanus cumingi, or the Yellow Headed Asian Water Monitor. Words can’t describe the amount of excitement over these little guys. If you know me, you know how obsessed with Varanids I am 🤣 Going through the tedious process of pairing the adults, watching Artemis go through the motions of cycling, laying eggs, a LONG incubation then finally these babies hatching, has been the most rewarding journey of my reptile career so far.
