Some “practical” applications for the 7 segment display ••• Maybe it’s a dice that can be used while playing table top games. Or connect it to the internet and use it as a counter for your online store or social media following. Or of course, you put 4 of them together with the colon separator, add a real time clock module, and you have yourself a fully functioning clock. If you want to get really crazy, add a couple more modules, and you can actually track seconds as well. ••• All the files for this project (including some sample code to get you started with Arduino) are available on my website, or free for my Thangs members. Link is in bio. ••• #mechanicalengineering #clock #engineering #3dprinting #arduino #electronics

The Rack Driven 7 Segment Display ••• This mechanism uses the inverse cams from my last video to push and pull on a rack and pinion. The pinion is connected to the segment on the front of the display, and shows/hides the segments according to which number is being displayed. ••• The whole thing is made with just 3d printed parts that snap together. The STL files are available on JBVCREATIVE.com or free for my thangs members- link is in bio! ••• #mechanicalengineering #mechanicalsculptures #engineering #mechanism #3dprinting #3dprinted #3dprintedmodels

Mechanism Monday: The Inverse Cam Pair ••• This is an interesting mechanism based off of the work of @belltreenursing - the top cam pushes the follower forward, while the bottom cam pulls it back. I am trying to create a fully 3D printable Mechanical 7 segment display, so using the inverted cam pair to eliminate the need for a spring or elastic band is key! ••• The STL files are (hopefully) coming soon! ••• #engineering #mechanismdesign #mechanism #mechanicalengineering #mechatronics #mechanicalengineer #3dprinting #3dmodeling #solidworks

7 Segment display, but mechanical ⚙️ ••• This is my first quest in an exploration of non-light emitting, mechanical displays. This design uses a sliding segment method controlled by cams that work on the same planes as the segments. Controlled by a stepper motor through a couple of gears, I can display any number between 0 and 9 ••• #mechanicalengineering #mechanicalsculptures #engineering #mechanicaldesign #mechanism #engineeringlife #engineeringstudent #3dprinting #3dprinted
