Epa, our Banded Bamboo Shark laid twin eggs on 4-6-24! Epa will usually lay one or two eggs a week, very rarely laying two at once! These two eggs are held together by the egg tendrils which is what sharks use to tie down their eggs. Fun fact, shark eggs are made of keratin, the same material your fingernails and hair are made from! Epa has lain over 900 eggs in her life since March of 2015, with several growing embryos due to the process of Parthenogenesis. We tag all of her shark eggs with the date they are lain to keep track of each specific eggs’ data. We are so excited to see what these two eggs will bring in the coming weeks!
