Both good & bad. For starters, I developed pretty intense hormonal acne at month 4 post-birth control. I dealt with PMS symptoms on top of this as well as difficulties with my sleep. On the other end, I started learning about myself & my body after 22 years of pretty much being in the dark, as we are taught SO little about the female body as young girls. I was able to naturally get my monthly cycle back that I lost on the pill, understand my ovulation, & maximize my exercise and energy levels with this newfound information and connection to myself. These discoveries were super powerful & allowed me to stay confident in my decision to get off of the pill, despite some of the less exciting downsides like my acne. So I knew I wanted to let my body settle into the “post-birth control life” before testing my blood and hormones, so I waited a full year before getting my blood drawn & taking the DUTCH hormonal test.
