Spring 🌼 is HERE. Change is in the air. And a shift is happening. I mean, technically this time of year is considered the “real” new year according to astrology so if 2024 hasn’t started out where you thought it would, now’s a GREAT TIME to reset. And especially if you’re not feeling like you’re hitting your financial goals, or on track right now, your money coach here wants to help. Here are some tips to spring cleaning your money life. #1 Get your taxes done ASAP Set a goal to complete your taxes and get this done by the end of the month, especially if you’re getting a refund. Waiting until the last minute (like the majority of people do) will only create more stress and perpetuate something that needs to get done anyway. Block your calendar now to work on this this week and set a date to complete them by. Better yet, if you’re getting a refund, put it to work by first making sure you have at least a $1000 mini emergency fund set aside, then paying off debt. If you have no debt, make sure your emergency fund is funded or you use it to increase your investing. #2 Clear and clean any paperwork at your house Spring cleaning isn’t JUST for getting rid of clothes you haven’t worn. I recently spent a few hours going through my file cabinet and desk to clear out paperwork I no longer need. Even clearing small amounts of clutter and refreshing a space can really make a big difference and make you feel less anxious. And this goes for your laptop and email files too…I use unroll.me to go through every email I’m subscribed to and quickly be able to unsubscribe from hundreds of emails in minutes. #3 Cancel any unwanted or unused subscriptions I recently saw an article that says the average person has 3 unused subscriptions. You’re likely wasting hundreds of dollars a year just on subscriptions you may not use or know you even have.
