Have you ever heard of culture described as an “iceberg”? 🧊 It’s this idea that there’s so much more to culture than what we see at first, kind of like how there is so much more ice to the iceberg under the surface of the water. Stay somewhere long enough, you’ll eventually encounter more things that might “shock” you 🤯 These things in the video are a few of those things in Taiwan that have not only “shocked” me, but still to this day are hard for me to get used to. Again, I don’t think these things need to change for my own comfort, but I just wanted to be real with y’all at moving to another country is not all roses and dandelions 🌹 There are going to be things you won’t ever get used to, and that’s completely okay! As long you recognize that and choose to appropriately respond to these situations in the way locals do 🙌🏽 For my fellow foreigners in Taiwan, what are some things you still haven’t been able to get used to?
