Country 157 for us is Comoros! This is the 9th least visited country in the world!! We didn't know much about the country before planning our trip, so here is some quick info... 🌊 Comoros is in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of Africa, not far from Madagascar. It's a nation with pristine beaches, volcanic landscapes, and vibrant culture. It has one of the world's most active volcanoes, which thankfully didn't erupt when we were there! 💔 Despite its beauty, Comoros faces numerous challenges, including political instability and economic struggles. However, like many countries we've recently visited, the warmth and hospitality of the Comorian people leave a lasting impression. 🌴 One of our highlights was the market - they had lots of fish lined right along the street, and you can watch the fishermen bring in their catch! I'd like to say I don't cry a lot, but to be honest this year I definitely teared up several times out of thankfulness for Emmy. To be honest this year was definitely the most difficult year of our travel. (If you're new here, we RVed the 50 states and are now on a trip to visit every country in the world.) It's not something we talk about often because I'm fully aware how big of a blessing it is to travel with my best friend. And the last thing I want to do is complain about anything. But the stress definitely got to me at times this year, and if it weren't for Emmy I might have given up. But Em was always there with enough joy and encouragement for both of us. Meeting other people, planning and problem solving how to visit some of the most difficult countries. Looking back through old pics, I was reminded that our freshman year of college I told her I wanted my life quote to be "Think of the stories you want to tell someday, then go out and live them." (Kinda bold and funny for a freshman to say) When we got married and moved into our first apartment, she printed my quote out and hung it above our door. And she's encouraged me everyday to live those stories. I love you so much Emmy. I can't say enough how thankful I am for you. I'm so grateful for the stories we've made together and I can't wait for the ones still to come.
