How to find free parking for van life and car camping on road trips 🚐 🚗 Using these methods I’ve parked in big cities and out in the wilderness. So you can use this for whatever type of adventure you want to go on, even if it’s not camping. Maybe you want to check out a new city or go on a cheap vacation. @ioverlander - if cities regulate sleeping in your car or oversized vehicles this won’t work because it is public and monitored but there is always somewhere to. Be sure to read the recent reviews because some spots no longer exist or can have roads that only 4x4 vehicles can access @thedyrt - the national forest and BLM maps here help me find public land to camp on. Some are just pull off but you can cross reference for some of the most amazing sites for free. If you don’t mind the least scent if option, parking lots, then hospitals, casinos, crackle barrel, some Walmarts and planet fitnesses and rest stops are options. Downsides are people parked right next to you. I’ve went to bed and woken up to some incredible views. You dont have to pay a bunch of money for hotels, throw some bedding in your car and go I did this with a 1500 car, even if you just drive a few hours away there is probably a cool spot to check out. Work and save up a few thousand dollars, you dont have to quit your job and buy a 50k sprinter to do this.
