My first ‘big girl apartment’ and it’s in Paris 🥹 While I’ve definitely spent a lot of time traveling solo throughout the years, I usually stay in a hostel or coliving space, where at the very least, the living spaces are shared. In college, I also had flatmates, and directly out of college, I lived with someone. This is my first apartment where I’m truly on my own. It’s been 1-year since one of the absolute best travel experiences I’ve ever had: staying at a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Nepal and participating in a 10-day, Introduction to Buddhism course and meditation retreat 🇳🇵 I first learned about this experience through two of my good friends who had done the retreat years back and always had nice stories and lessons from it to share with me. I was skeptical at first, but I love learning about different cultures and Nepal was already high on my travel list. I decided to give it a shot. What came next was a surprisingly challenging week, filled with ups and downs. There were tears, stomach aches, and moments of absolute boredom, but also new friendships, laughs that made your side ache, and conversations that stretched into the night (when we were supposed to be silent). A 4-star lodge inside a state park 🤯 What was once a Catholic seminary, dating back to 1931, has since been restored into a beautiful and comfortable lodge, @lodgeatstedward. It’s tucked inside St. Edward State Park and is surrounded by over 300 acres of trees and trails. The Lodge at St. Edward Park is located 30 minutes from downtown Seattle, making it the perfect staycation for anyone living in the PNW. My mom and I had the opportunity to spend the weekend here and we kept ourselves busy with all of the different activities available: biking, exploring the trails, playing pickleball, and Scrabble - to name a few of our favorites.
