Me posting this as if I am definitely going to finish them all in consecutive days🫡 I've been spending every moment I can out on the balcony making things this past week. I think it's hard to grasp for most how hard the 20-25 degrees Celsius Vegas spring is hitting the Swede in me. Spending most of your life in long winters with near no sunlight really does a trick on you. Swedes' obsession with weather might be our single defining feature?? Cause' I'm genuinely curious if people anywhere else will shed their winter jackets and start wearing shorts as soon as the sun comes out, but it's still 12 C outside. Or turn their heads upwards, towards the sun, at every single traffic light? Or stubbornly insisting on bringing the table and eat outside outside, just to carry the whole table in and out as rain and clouds come and go🤣 I would be curious to know if this is also a thing in the colder part of the states (it's understandably not in Vegas). These tiles have been painted with underglaze, not glazed yet. 2 of them are going into a little test fire, but I'm gonna keep painting on the balcony the rest next week/for as long as the weather allows it (together with some mugs!). Hope to see you then!!! #paintedtiles #underglazepainting #catart

tho I think getting a bday cake of your companion kitty would be epic, I'm happy that the customer will be able to enjoy this sculpture a little longer than just a day☺️ Luna, who this Kitty sculpture is based of, has these amazing large intense pupils and super crisp emerald green eyes, making her very Disney-like. when it gets around to painting I really want to bring out those eyes, as well as the whole Disney vibe. maybe with pink or blue underpaint/tones going? :) one of the hardest parts about doing ceramic sculpture is having to wait so darn long for that step. but I think it will be well worth it and I hope to see you then!!! For the people who has been here with me throughout my journey with Brooks, I want to again thank you so much for all the outreach and support. thanks to your help, I was able to do everything in my power to help him🥺. to say that the months after has been a struggle is an understatement, in so many ways, but having my hands full of work like this is helping a ton. hearing you tell stories about your companions is also helping a ton. Thank you for being here❤️

I feel so lucky for the opportunity to work on a sculpture of a cat this beautiful🩶 Momo's mama also shared some wonderful stories with me, about Momo and his life. When she told me that their evening routine was to go outside for a bit at night before dinner and enjoy the moonlight, and that he loved butterflies, I knew those were elements that I wanted to incorporate into the sculpture. If you look closely at the sculpture, there's a little ring just above the collar, that is meant to be the glow in the dark "ring" he wore when they went outside. I am planning to sculpt a couple of butterflies around him too, and use glow in the dark ceramic glaze (yes that exists!!) as a little nod to their time in the moonlight, and the butterflies he loved so much. Once bisque fired, Momo is going to be painted in his beautiful tabby markings. It really feels important to me to pivot the focus of my videos away from my own art process, and towards the animals they celebrate. after I lost Brooksie - and after talking to so many of you that has had similar experiences - it's become so clear to me how many wonderful, kind people are here. and I want to give back to the community, and the animals that centers it, that has given so much to me and us. I'll probably be backed up with orders and the give away sculptures for a while, and I don't really know how to use this platform to make a micro-impact, but I want to start putting it out into the universe now. thank you again so much for being here❤️

Give Away Winners: Yt: mogwai Ig: shorakasa Tik Tok: betsywatrous Never thought I'd be this vulnerable on the internet and ask for help. I was only focused on Brooks at the time, but feeling the support of a community was another gift he ended up leaving for me, instead. It feels very important to me to pass the kindness forward, and do what I can to use my platforms towards that end. I don't know exactly how this is going to work, but I am taking steps❤️ With the work ahead of me, it also feels important to shift my focus to telling animals' stories and honoring them. I have a new appreciation for how deeply meaningful having art of our companions can be, especially when they're no longer with us. I also have a new appreciation for how much joy can come from sharing their stories (the stories many of you shared with me gave me so much comfort in this time, and I want to pass that on). For now, I'll keep quicker process updates to a closed group of friends, family and clients, so you can follow projects in real time. When I show up here, I plan to tell more encompassing stories (and make them count). The re-working of this owl feels symbolic. I spent yesterday recycling over 100 pounds of clay, as well as over 100 hours of work. There are things I'm ready to let go off, have the water come in and smooth out, and make new shapes from. (I miss you so, so much Brooksie ❤️🐾)
