@Eusen & The Family Eusen has been going to Japanese pre school for 2months now. I’m thinking he might adapt some Japanese words from school but so far there is none yet. He only recognises the Japanese words that I taught him at home. I checked with the teacher if he can slightly understand them now , they said not really but they started to speak some English to him 😂 okay how is this the other way round. Since they don’t teach basic hiragana (like English ABC ) at all, and don’t do flash card either. I guess it’s pretty difficult for Eusen to grasp it at the moment. The huge difference of international school is they hardly let the kid have free time , the schedule is full from morning to evening. Kids will go to park, learn piano, do flash card games , learn new vocab’s and Ofcourse all comes with music and play base. Meanwhile Japanese schools let the kids have a lot of playtime by themselves , most likely Eusen just stay there playing toys by his own. He looks extremely bored sometimes when I pick him up 🥲 Hence we are considering international school, but we also have a lot of concern of his future education path and his Japanese language skill as international school is mainly focusing on English only, and have to stick all the way to university. I appreciate how the Japanese pre-school being very patient with Eusen, I’m just still trying to figure out what’s the best for him. I asked teacher if his Japanese improved a little in the school. Teacher said not really but he learned how to queue up, refill for rice , return the bowl after meal , put his bags to the rack etc skill. Kids are required to be quiet and disciplined since young age here in Japan.It’s quite difficult for a foreign kids who are used to the “Free Talking” environment back in their country. You often heard the Japanese parents telling their kids these phrases. 迷惑かけないで！（Don’t cause trouble to others) 声大きいぞ！静かにして(You’re too loud, be quite) I’m trying to show Eusen when we need to be quiet. Do you prefer academic or play ? I used to think kids should just play in school but seeing Eusen came back learning new things and words made me rethink of this. After sending him to preschool for a month he recognise all the numbers and alphabet and he seems happy learning all these. In Japan they do not teach any academic and he does not speak Japanese at home. He couldn’t really make friends or understand what the teachers saying. I started to spend time teaching him some basic phrases like Ohayou Sensei ( Good morning teacher ) , Mata ne (See you) at home and he is slowly improving!
