🤩 SHARE this toddler tip from Devon Kuntzman. A certified life coach who specializes in helping parents of young children, she’s the founder of @Devon Kuntzman. Here, she offers insight into why toddlers bite. Toddlers often don’t have the vocabulary and self-control they need to express their feelings. So, it’s common for them to communicate with actions, like biting. Here are three proactive responses to biting that can help your child learn to use social-emotional and language skills instead: 1️⃣ Try to determine the feelings, emotions, and needs that drove your little one to bite. Set clear boundaries for them with love rather than punishment. The goal is to help them understand their emotions and learn skills on how to communicate their feelings in other ways. 2️⃣ During calm moments with your child, explore books about biting, like “Biting Hurts,” to reinforce self-regulation strategies. Having books with real pictures help children make connections between the emotions you’re reading and the situations they’re seeing. 3️⃣ Role-play scenarios with hand puppets so your child can practice expressing big emotions without biting. With interchangeable eyes, you can change the puppets’ expressions to match the emotions 👉 You can find the Storytelling Puppet Set from The Storyteller Play Kit for months 40 to 42 and “Biting Hurts” from the Tricky Topics book series, in our Subscriber Shop via the link in our bio. #Lovevery #ToddlerDevelopment #ToddlerHelp #BitingHurts #TodderTips #ParentingTips #TikTokShop
