When it comes to treating hormonal acne from PCOS, birth control pills or oral spironolactone are common and effective conventional treatments. However, there are a few supportive supplements found to be helpful for acne in the setting of PCOS. We still need more data but I find so many patients ask about supplements! In addition to vitex and myo-inositol, I also recommend omega 3 and vitamin D supplementation. Another important aspect of PCOS is the increased risk for insulin resistance, so supplements like gymnema, cinnamon, and fenugreek have been found to be helpful as well. Be sure to check out the full video on my YT channel for all my #dermatologist tips on managing your skin with PCOS. #pcosawareness #hormonalacne #acnetreatment #acnetips #drmamina
