The term "Binalodan" refers to the ikat technique in Iranun and Maguindanaon weaving traditions. Ikat is a centuries-old resist dyeing method used to create intricate patterns on cloth. The Banton burial cloth, the oldest surviving textile in the Philippines, was made using ikat, making Inaul Binalodan an embodiment of ancient craftsmanship and heritage.
