We love tummy time and want to give you different options if your kiddo hates tummy time (there are a lot out there) because tummy time is important for head control, back strength, and upper body strength and endurance. It promotes carryover to rolling and crawling too! Over a ball: if you had a pregnancy ball, the bouncing while in tummy time usually distracts baby and they can maintain for a bit longer than normal! You can also angle the baby at a higher incline to make it easier (by rolling baby towards you) or make it harder by lowering the incline (roll baby away from you). Keep both hands on baby at all times! Over a pillow/boppy: adding a small pillow makes it easier for babies to hold up their head in tummy time, rather than directly on the floor. In your hands: again, you can change this incline higher or lower to make it easier or harder. However, using baby on your forearms, you can travel around your house and it could motivate baby to keep up their head for longer. On your chest: sing, make faces, and talk to your baby to get them to pick up their head while they lay on your chest! You can be more upright to make it easier, or lay down to make it harder for baby to keep their head up. On the floor: earlier on, baby will likely only be able to hold up only their head in this position for a couple seconds at a time.
