This morning, I had a conversation with someone who had done the inner work and got scared because they were no longer resenting their relationship! For a moment, this person felt nervous because, up until now, she believed she only had the right to refuse something if she was suffering. But that’s not true. Just because you free yourself from resentment doesn’t mean you’re suddenly okay with everything. Letting go of the part of you that reacts doesn’t rid you of your preferences or desires. Instead, it opens the door to a deeper level of freedom.
