Anti-aging Skincare for Your 20s/30s! Here is a sample template: AM: 1. Gentle cleanser. If you don’t use a cleanser in the morning and just do water wash, then that’s totally fine. 2. Vitamin C: Great antioxidant to use in the morning to fight free radical damage. If you have sensitive skin, look for products with THD ascorbate 3. SPF: Sun protection is the ultimate anti-aging method long-term. You’ll thank me later! Go for at least SPF 30+ PM: 1. Gentle cleanser OR Double cleansing if wearing makeup, etc. Cleansing oil or balm is great for removing makeup. 2. Retinol cream: retinol over-the-counter is a great start for anti-aging. Retinol is less irritating than prescription strength, but I would still start slow (i.e. 3 times a week at night). I would recommend retinol creams that are also hydrating. 3. On all other nights, use a hydrating moisturizer that is rich in hyaluronic acid, ceramides, niacinamide, peptides, etc. 4. Optional: you can introduce gentle chemical exfoliation with AHA once a week to start! Helps to exfoliate and improve dull appearance of skin. I’ll also do one with examples of products you can use! #drheejink #drkohskincare #antiagingskincare #antiagingtips #skincareforbeginners #skincarefor20s #skincarefor30s #skincareroutinetips #koreanskin

Have you tried this viral twist cleansing balm? 👀 You simply rotate and you get the perfect amount of cleansing balm without having to use a spatula or your fingers to scoop it out. I tested it out and it also removes makeup really well. It is a little pricey so I think this is for people who like cleansing balms but don’t want to scoop out products. #drheejink #drkohskincare #koreanskincare Have you tried this?

How to minimize the appearance of PORES: 1. Gentle chemical exfoliation: Try AHA like glycolic acid & lactic acid or combination of AHA/BHA/PHA product 1-2 times per week. I personally like to use a toner with a cotton pad and do 1 sweep across my face. Those with sensitive skin can try LHA products which is the most gentle form of acids. I always follow with moisturizer to hydrate and minimize irritation. 2. Moisturizers: For moisturizers, I recommend trying those rich in hyaluronic acid like the one from @Peach & Lily or @Torriden. If you want something richer in texture, try @AveneUSA cicalfate or @LaRochePosayUS cicaplst balm b5. 3. Retinol products: On few nights, you can try using retinol products, which help clear clogged oil and dead skin cells to minimize the appearance of pores. I would start using retinol product 2 times per week, and then gradually adding a night if tolerated. Try using a retinol cream like the one from @RoC Skincare OR Alpharet cream from @skinbetter science (which has patented technology that combines lactic acid + retinol but with minimal irritation) OR retinol serum followed by a rich moisturizer. 4. Remember NOT to overuse irritating products. Both acids like AHA/BHA/PHA and retinol products can dry out or irritate the skin, so make sure to start slowly and use them on different nights. #drheejink #drkohskincare #porecleanse #clearskintips #glassskin #skincaretips #dermatologist #skindoctor

☀️Common Sunscreen Mistakes, Part 1 ☀️ 1. Applying only in sunny weather. 80 percent of UV rays can penetrate your skin on a cloudy day, so make sure to use sunscreen every day. 2. Not applying to other exposed body parts such as ears, lips, neck, hands, feet, ankles, etc. 3. Incorrectly using sunscreen sprays. Sunscreen sprays are easy to use but they don’t cover your skin evenly, which can lead to burns in uncovered areas. When you spray sunscreen, it’s important to rub it in evenly. 4. Not applying enough amount of sunscreen. Make sure to apply 2 tablespoons or 1 shot glass of sunscreen for face & body. #sunscreenmistakes #sunscreentips #summerskincare #summerskincaretips #sunprotection #skincaretips #dermatologist #dermatology #koreandoctor #koreanskin #drheejink #drkohskincare #drjiyeh

Best Toners/Essence (based on skin concern) Toners & Essence are not mandatory and optional in skincare routine, but they can certainly help address some skin concerns. Exfoliating toners can help improve skin texture, acne, and dullness. Hydrating & soothing toners or essence can help calm irritated skin and hydrate dry skin. Those with dry skin may use essence before serum and moisturizer, whereas those with oily skin may prefer to use a lightweight essence in place of serum or moisturizer (really depends on skin type and environment). Here are some examples of hydrating essence, soothing/calming or exfoliating toners. #drheejink #drkohskincare #dermatologist #besttoner #bestessence #skincaretips #koreanskincare

✨Supplement for sun protection?✨ Did you know there is a supplement you can take to help protect against the sun? Heliocare contains polypodium leukotomas, which is a tropical fern extract that helps protect your skin against UVB light and reduce risk of sunburn. Heliocare also has an advanced version that contains nicotinamide in addition to polypodium leukotomos, which has been shown to help reduce the risk of developing pre-cancerous lesions and non-melanoma skin cancers from uv damage. I typically recommend this to patients with skin cancer history. Remember that this does not replace sunscreen! It’s a great supplement to take in addition to sunscreen and other physical sun protection. I recommend this if you’re going to the beach or somewhere with strong sun exposure or for those with melasma or sun sensitivities. #drheejink #drkohskincare #sunprotection #heliocare #sunprotection☀️ #clearskin #koreanskin #dermatologist #dermtips

Acne Scar Treatments ✅ Retinoids can help increase collagen production, even out skin tone & prevent future acne by targeting oil glands. ✅ Vitamin C: antioxidant that can help brighten and even out skin tone. ✅ AHAs (glycolic, lactic, mandelic) can help chemically exfoliate & resurface the skin to even out skin tone ✅ Sunscreen: can help limit contrast between acne scar and normal skin. ✅ In-office treatment: dermatologist consultation is important to come up with a treatment plan for textural changes from acne scars and for persistent redness or dark sptos. May need in-office cosmetic treatments to improve the appearance of scars. #drheejink #drkohskincare #dermatologist #koreanskin #acnescartreatment

What’s in Korea’s #1 Best Selling Toner? @anua_kr ✅ Houttuynia Cordata Extract contains Flavanoids = Anti-inflamatory/Antioxidant ✅ Centella = Anti-inflammatory ✅ Glycerin & Panthenol = Humectant Some studies suggest possible anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of Houttuynia Cordata Extract due to high concentration of flavanoids. More studies are needed to assess actual changes on the human skin! #drheejink #drkohskincare #koreanbeauty #koreanskincare #koreanskincareproducts #anuatoner

#duet with @LifeAsZeph #rosemaryoil Does Rosemary Oil Help Grow Hair?? ✅2015 study showed that rosemary oil has similar efficacy as minoxidil 2%. Rogaine (topical minoxidil) comes in 2% or 5%. ✅Consistency is 🔑 ! Rosemary oil was applied 2x per day for 6 months in the study ✨Always good to get baseline evaluation by a dermatologist since there are many different causes of hair loss✨ #drheejink #drkohskincare #haircaretips #rosemaryoilforhairgrowth #rosemaryoilbenefits

For those with oily/acne-prone skin, here are some tips: -You still need to moisturize. I would opt for lightweight water-based moisturizers that can help hold water on the top layer of the skin. Moisturizers with postbiotics can help. -You still need to use sunscreen & there are ones that won’t break you out. Try sunscreen that is lightweight & contains niacinamide. -Avoid over-exfoliating. Over-exfoliation will just dry out your skin & cause irritation that can lead to inflammation. I usually recommend chemical exfoliants like salicylic acid or milder forms of exfoliants like PHA few times a week (ex. ~2 times per week). #drheejink #drkohskincare #acneproneskin #oilyskin

Any alternatives to Vit C serum?? Vitamin C serum is one of my top skincare products when it comes to value. It is an antioxidant that can fight UV and oxdiative stress coming from pollutants and environmental aggressors. Vit C also helps your sunscreen work better. However, not everyone can tolerate Vit C. Here are some alternatives to brightening, although they may not be able to replace all of the benefits that come from Vit C. ✅ Try more stable form of Vit C than L-ascorbic acid, such as THD ascorbate. ✅ Other ingredients: alpha-arbutin, kojic acid, niacinamide, tranexamic acid, azelaic acid #drheejink #drkohskincare #vitamincserum #skinbrighteningtreatment
